What onboarding drop-off usually is not
Teams arrive with a cliff after the third onboarding screen and a story about people rejecting the purpose of the app. Session samples in our studio more often show a permissions sheet, an Apple or Google identity prompt, or a wait for an SMS.
Those gates are real. They are not the same as leaving a task that had already begun. If onboarding_complete fires before the permission sheet, the cliff is in the wrong chapter of the story.
When we write findings, we separate “did not finish the welcome carousel” from “did not grant location.” Collapsing them into one engagement number makes the carousel look guilty for a gate it does not own. Fix the recording before you rewrite the welcome.
